Summer is on the way and boots and wooly socks are cast aside as we are once again in sandals and flip flops. Feet that have been forgotten about are now on display and the Solesister clinic becomes increasingly busy. To book your Spring foot MOT please call in plenty of time as appointments are going fast.
Summer brings with it a different range of foot ailments. The transition from supportive shoes to flat sandals and flip flops puts the soft tissue structures of the foot under strain and pain in the arch and heel are common. Try to make sure that all summer footware is as supportive as possible. Should you experience any foot pain please call the clinic to make an appointment for a biomechanical assessment. Dry, thick and cracked skin can be more of a problem in Summer. Feet should be filed at least 3 times per week before bathing, and creamed using a good emolient with a urea or lactic acid content daily. Routine Podiatry/Chiropody appointments may need to be more frequent in the summer to maintain soft, comfortable and healthy feet.
